Tour Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport you will be met by A&A Travels representative and transfer to  Riverston, distance approximately 4hrs drive.

*The Riverston Peak- in Sri Lanka can be reached by travelling, about 30km away from the Matale town, down the Matale – Girandurukotte Road. This secretive windy road, with its sharp hairpin turns, offers some of the best views to the surrounding countryside; to the extent that it is called the Mini World’s End.

The trek is about two and a half kilometers one way, and should not take more than a healthy hour or two at most. It runs a section known as the Pittawala Paththana and leads to the Riverston Peak. The countryside along the trek has views of the terraced paddy fields, unique to some mountainous regions around the world, and that of the beautiful green Central Highlands.

The Riverston Peak features a sheer 300m drop to stunning misty views of the nearby Knuckles Mountain Range and Thelgamu river valley. The peak, with its peaceful and beautiful surroundings, is also a great place to meditate and relax on your holiday to Sri Lanka. The Riverston trek is a great opportunity for nature lovers and photographers who want a few jaw-dropping clicks.

Dinner and overnight at Riverston

*Sembuwatta Lake is a tourist attraction situated at Elkaduwa in the Matale District of Sri Lanka, adjacent to the Campbell’s Lane Forest Reserve. Sembuwatta Lake is a man-made lake created from natural spring water. Alongside the lake is a natural swimming pool.

Sembuwatta Lake is believed to be 9 m (30 ft) to 12 m (39 ft) deep. Currently the lake belongs to the Elkaduwa Plantations and produces electricity for the nearby villagers.

Afternoon arrival to Kandy, do city tour and visit Temple of the Tooth Relic.

*Kandy-the hill capital. Venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

*Temple of the Buddha’s Tooth Kandy

The best time to visit its world famous shrine, containing the revered tooth of the Buddha is the evening ‘pooja’ ceremony when the temple is illuminated with flickering lamps - a magical experience. The city of Kandy can be viewed beautifully from the Lake Drive set above the Kandy Lake. You may also visit the Old Town area adjacent to the temple, which contains some very early British colonial and Kandyan period buildings in a narrow maze of streets.
